The Los Angeles Rams had one of the best kickers in the NFL. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, that best kicker of Greg Zuerlein decided to take his talents elsewhere this offseason. Zuerlein had spent eight seasons with the Los Angeles Rams before making the jump to the Dallas Cowboys in the offseason. One of the biggest reasons why Zuerlein made the jump to Texas was due to the departure of Rams special teams coach John Fassel. Zuerlein even confirmed that in a recent interview with ESPN Dallas
“I always thought I would be a Ram for life. For one reason or another, things happened the way they did. Coach [John] Fassel left and when he left I thought, huh, this guy brought me into the league and stuck by me. We’ve worked very well together, and when he landed in Dallas I thought if I’m not going to be with the Rams, Dallas would be awesome,”
It was time for the Rams to find a new kicker and they might have found a hidden gem. Los Angeles wanted to find a veteran kicker as the young kickers coming out of college has not been the greatest of signings. Meet kicker Lirim Hajrullahu. The 29-year old kicker has spent the last six seasons in the CFL and was recently with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who released him in January. In his six-year career with the CFL, he has made 239 of 287 (83.3%) field goals in his 6-year, with a career-long of 56 yards.
The #Rams are signing CFL all-star kicker Lirim Hajrullahu, per source. He’ll get a chance to replace Greg Zuerlein, who left for Dallas.
