Orlando Pace is livid over Rams new rookie number

The Los Angeles Rams are welcoming nine rookies from the 2020 NFL Draft as they all are looking to make a strong start in the league. Even though fans were disappointed to see the Rams not address the offensive line as heavy as they wished, it made perfect sense why Los Angeles attacked the draft the way they did. With the rookies slowly getting a feel for the new organization, the Rams announced the rookie numbers for all nine members. Here are those new numbers below.

  • RB Cam Akers: 23
  • WR Van Jefferson: 12
  • OLB Terrell Lewis: 52
  • DB Terrell Burgess: 26
  • TE Brycen Hopkins: 88
  • S Jordan Fuller: 32
  • LB Clay Johnston: 58
  • K Sam Sloman: 1
  • OL Tremayne Anchrum: 76

However, there is one Rams legend who is quite mad about one rookie’s number. Rams legend Orlando Pace recently took to social media about how OL Tremayne Anchrum will be using No. 76, the same number Pace wore with the Rams. I’m not entirely sure why the number is not yet retired by the Rams organization but fans backed up the Hall of Famer.

Clearly Pace is not happy with the number choice. Should the Rams retire No. 76 in honor of Orlando Pace?

No disrespect to Orlando Pace, but if #74 Merlin Olsen isn’t retired, then #76 shouldn’t be either, as Olsen was much more a legendary Ram than Pace was. Just sayin’. #75 (Jones) and #78 (Slater) are retired, so they’ll run out of “70’s” numbers if they get too carried away retiring numbers. I say, just let their accomplishments speak for themselves and forget about jersey numbers. People will remember what their jersey numbers were.
