NFL Analyst – The Los Angeles Rams and Cam Newton make perfect sense

Quarterback Cam Newton is still looking for a new home as the Carolina Panthers will be moving on from the veteran player. Carolina added QB Teddy Bridgewater to the roster and will be looking to lead the team with Christian Mccaffrey. With Newton still without a team, could the Los Angeles Rams be the perfect home for him? According to ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, Newton would be perfect for the Los Angeles Rams.

The other team that would make a lot of sense on paper to me that isn’t an obvious starting job is the L.A. Rams,” Riddick said on “Golic and Wingo” Thursday. “Sean McVay and Cam Newton I think would be a perfect fit theoretically and philosophically. Again, run-centric offense. Everything runs through the running back. Play-action passes, movement passes, boots, roll-outs. I mean, Sean would have an absolute field day with that.”

The Los Angeles Rams currently have loads of QB’s on the roster as they recently added another two to the team following the draft in the undrafted free agency period. Could the Rams use a better backup quarterback than the ones who are currently on the roster? At the moment it is also unknown if Newton will accept a backup role as former starting QB Jameis Winston recently accepted a backup role with the New Orleans Saints.

Newton only played two games in 2019 as he was sidelined with injuries for pretty much the whole season. In those two games, Newton finished with a total of 572 passing yards and one interception. Coming back down to earth, even though Louis Riddick might raise a good question of Los Angeles finding a better backup quarterback such as Cam Newton, the odds of it actually happening are slim to none.
